Barneys Birds
This is my page on the Club Web Site for a little light relief from the heavy stuff of producing the site.
As a new member to the Club I am pleased with the help I have received from all those involved, in particular Rick, Roy and Grahame, who have always been on hand for advice. It is difficult to find a Club where beginners are not only made welcome but are encouraged by the members and not left to struggle on their own, as has been my experience with other Clubs. I wish to place on record my thanks to all the members for their help.
Now, to my birds.
This Years
Young Birds
The Photo above is of one of my Spangles, of which I am quite proud. This is from a mixture of a Geoff Capes/Rick Craven lines. The pairing has throw quite a few of this standard and colour and I am looking forward to next year when I hope to breed with these. At present I have around 100 birds but most of these will go over the next few weeks following a visit from Rick, who was helpful in what I should keep and what I should dispose of.
I have an outside flight approx 10ft square and a small shed attached for shelter. This is where the birds are mainly kept when not breeding. I also have a 12ftX8ft shed where I house my breeding cages
Here is my Little Helper, Hamish, who is in constant contact with the Birds and who thinks he is an Irish Wolf Hound. We do not have the heart to tell him the truth. Rick can confirm he is a willing helper and has been known on occasions to lick visitors into submission
All you beginners out there need to meet up with someone who has years of experience and is willing to part with the knowledge. I have been lucky enough to meet up with Rick Craven (see Ricks _Page) and have gleaned a bank of knowledge from his experience. He is always at the end of the phone or on the net and willing to help those of us just beginning to enjoy the fancy.
Visit Ricks Place or call him at his email address. Nothing is too much trouble.
Thanks Rick
